We have discovered how this molecular process works," he added.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The analysis of the study revealed that if heat over 40 degrees Celsius is applied to the skin near to where internal pain is felt, it switches on heat receptors located at the site of injury. These heat receptors in turn block the effect of chemical messengers that cause pain to be detected by the body.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"The problem with heat is that it can only provide temporary relief. The focus of future research will continue to be the discovery and development of pain relief drugs that will block P2X3 pain receptors. Biasa dibuat tumis, cah, atau lalap. Kangkung ternyata juga berkhasiat sebagai antiracun dan bisa mengobati berbagai gangguan kesehatan. Tanaman kangkung berasal dari India, yang kemudian menyebar ke Malaysia, Birma, Indonesia, Cina Selatan, Australia, dan Afrika. Di Cina, sayuran ini dikenal sebagai weng cai. Di negara Eropa, kangkung biasa disebut swamp cabbage, water convovulus, atau water spinach.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bertha (36), ibu beranak dua, tinggal di Temanggung, Jawa Tengah, punya cerita. Suatu hari, saat sedang menyantap makanan, tiba-tiba ia merasa pusing, mual, mata berkunang-kunang. Keringat dinginpun bercucuran di sekujur tubuhnya. Ia langsung dilarikan ke puskesmas terdekat. Dokter puskesmas mendiagnosis, ia mengalami keracunan makanan.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Untunglah Bertha teringat peristiwa keracunan yang dialami suaminya setahun lalu. Obat-obatan yang diberikan dokter urung diasupnya. Ia malah mengambil 500 gram akar, batang, dan daun kangkung. Kangkung yang telah dicuci bersih itu diblender dengan segelas air, lalu diminum. Setelah mengonsumsi 2 gelas jus kangkung, Bertha merasakan tubuhnya pulih kembali. Ia mengaku, resep ini secara tak sengaja ia dapatkan disebuah toko buku di Yogyakarta.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Secara khusus Dr. Setiawan Dalimartha, Ketua II Perhimpunan Dokter Indonesia Pengembang Kesehatan Tradisional Timur (PDPKT), mengutarakan bahwa langkah yang dilakukan Bertha cukup tepat. Kangkung memang berfungsi sebagai penenang (sedatif) dan mampu membawa zat berkhasiat ke saluran pencernaan. Itulah sebabnya, tanaman ini mempunyai kemampuan menetralkan racun di tubuh.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kangkung banyak ditanam di Pulau Jawa, khususnya di Jawa Barat. DiKecamatan Muting Kabupaten Merauke, Papua, kangkung merupakan lumbung hidup sehari-hari. Di Kecamatan Darussalam Kabupaten Aceh Besar, kangkung darat banyak ditanam penduduk untuk dikonsumsi sendiri maupun dijual ke pasar.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Tumbuh Cepat &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kangkung termasuk suku Convolvulaceae atau keluarga kangkung-kangkungan. Merupakan tanaman yang tumbuh cepat dan memberikan hasil dalam waktu 4-6 minggu sejak dari benih. Terna semusim dengan panjang 30-50 cm ini merambat pada lumpur dan tempat-tempat yang basah seperti tepi kali, rawa-rawa, atau terapung di atas air. Biasa ditemukan di dataran rendah hingga 1.000 m di atas permukaan laut.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tanaman bernama Latin Ipomoea reptans ini terdiri dan dua varietas, yakni kangkung darat yang disebut kangkung cina dan kangkung air yang tumbuh secara alami di sawah, rawa, atau parit. Perbedaan antara kangkung darat dan kangkung air terletak pada warna bunga. Kangkung air berbunga putih kemerah-merahan, sedangkan kangkung darat bunga putih bersih.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Perbedaan lainnya pada bentuk daun dan batang. Kangkung air berbatang dan berdaun lebih besar daripada kangkung darat. Warna batangnya juga bebeda. Kangkung air berbatang hijau, sedangkan kangkung darat putih kehijau-hijauan.
